New Composition for the Long Island Tuba Quartet - Premiere July 17th

I recently wrote a new composition the Long Island Tuba Quartet, thanks to my friend the tubist Jeff Furman.  The piece is entitled “Lanterne Rouge” and will be premiered on July 17th at 7:30pm at the North Babylon Library.

Jeff and I both share a hobby in cycling.   And I enjoy following the Tour de France each year, so the piece is a tribute to the amazing struggle of that epic race.  In the Tour de France the rider who finishes last, rather than dropping out along the way, is accorded the distinction of Lanterne Rouge.  I thought tubas and euphoniums were a great way to honor that rider who perseveres!
